A gathering in the North Carolina mountains
The Grandfather Mountain Highland Games welcomes clans, competitors, performers, families and visitors to MacRae Meadows in Linville. Its mix of Scottish heritage, music, athletics and dance gives visitors more than one reason to make the trip.
For a sense of the festival's character, the official 2026 report describes the Thursday Torch Light Ceremony, heavy athletics, piping and harp competitions, Celtic concerts, Highland dance and the Parade of Tartans. Those are details from the 2026 Games, not a promised 2027 schedule.
